Vista ist ein neuer Font von Xavier Dupré. Er schriebt dass er sich hat inspirieren lassen von Schriften die er in Sumatra gesehen hat.. Das glaub ich nicht! Mit Sumatra bringe ich ganz andere Bilder in Verbindung.
Trotz allem: dieser Font wird wohl wieder ein Emigre-Bestseller.
Emigre is proud to announce the release of Vista, a family
of 36 fonts by the talented and very prolific type designer
Xavier Dupré.

Dupré's type designs are marked by a strong sense for distinct
shapes that are influenced by his training in calligraphic
forms at Scriptorium de Toulouse. At the young age of 28,
Dupré has already released nine type families with a number
of different foundries. All of his releases so far have been
serifs and scripts, each one exhibiting his exceptional
mastery of the tools and his ability to draw original forms.

But at Emigre we're always looking for the slightly off kilter.
So when Dupré applied his sense of formal flair to the design
of a sans serif, our interest was seriously piqued. When Vista
was submitted to us, we immediately knew that we had something
quite special.

Unlike serif fonts, sans serifs have generally fewer
opportunities to manipulate form. Vista is different. At first
glance, Vista may appear to be another standard humanist sans
serif, but upon closer inspection it reveals numerous
idiosyncrasies and unique details, showing us that even within
a presumably exhausted field of sans serifs there is still
much variation possible. Vista's lower case a, for instance,
with its broken top curve, as well as the slight bulge at the
slanted stroke endings of characters such as k and w, are cases
in point.

As an added feature, Dupré also drew sets of alternate
companion fonts with italic and flourished details added to
Vista's base forms. These fonts allow for greater expression
when setting headlines and word logos while fitting comfortably
with its text companion.

The result is a comprehensive family spanning six weights,
complete with small caps and lively alternate forms, offering
a healthy mix of matching functional and expressive fonts.
