Don't miss the exhibition Achtung: enthält Leben. Notizbuch, Bullet Journal, Tagebuch at Klingspor Museum Offenbach. Notebooks, bullet journals, and diaries: as containers of ephemeral moments, they accompany our lives. They gradually fill up with experiences, noteworthy events, and memos, serving as an important structuring medium for many people. Often, they become individual works of art, especially when artists keep a diary. The museum has impressive examples in its collection. The range extends from works by conceptual artist Dieter Roth to Barbara Fahrner's record from New York during the Islamist terrorist attack in September 2001, and to the contemporary zine Lockdown Diary by Malte Spindler. A special treasure is the “sketchbooks” by Paul Stein, a blend of diary, sketchbook, and literary records.

Bullet journals, too, are lovingly designed tools that help organize and prioritize everyday activities. The exhibition explores the motives and approaches behind filling an initially empty book. Numerous people have responded to the museum’s call and contributed their own works: a diverse collection of notebooks, bullet journals, and diaries has found its way into the exhibition. Interviews with diary writers shed light on individual motivations and methods. Additionally, there will be a virtual exhibition space on Instagram.

In collaboration with the Frankfurt notebook manufacturer nuuna by brandbook, the exhibition also addresses the design of the blank book, which also influences the writing process. Many designs are waiting in the exhibition to be filled.
