The exhibition showcased the remarkable diversity of Egyptian cinema aesthetics, from melodramatic to minimalist. The diversity of visual language and aesthetics in turn reflected the political, social and cultural changes, from liberation to unrest.

Lust & love was a big theme, frequently featuring a female centrepiece. The cinema poster, 'affiche' was often first hand-drawn and reproduced with stone litho printing.
