This poster design draws inspiration from a quote from “Ya Msafer” by Ghalia Benali. It conveys the theme of longing for someone while paying homage to the original singer of the song, Mohamed Abdel Wahab. The title, “Ya Msafer Wahdak wa faytny”, meaning “Oh, Lone Traveler, leaving me behind” is depicted using the typeface I designed, Qaws. The letterforms are intentionally separated and appear to float, symbolizing the emotional distance between the subject and the person they long for.
Traditional Egyptian Tattoos
This personal project explores traditional Egyptian tattoos, reflecting my artistic vision and experiences. Each piece merges historical elements with contemporary expression, using a bold color palette inspired by vibrant folk culture. Modern decorative patterns, rich details, and typography inspired by the hand-drawn script of folk artists bring these motifs to life. Join me on this journey to appreciate the beauty and depth of Egyptian heritage through the lens of traditional tattoos.
Cairo’s streetscape
This project captures Cairo’s iconic landmarks as vintage postal stamps, blending history and art to celebrate the city’s cultural identity. Featuring the Talaat Harb statue in Downtown Cairo and the Ibrahim Pasha statue in Opera Square, the illustrations highlight their historical significance with intricate details and nostalgic textures. These designs reimagine Cairo’s streetscape, turning its landmarks into collectible symbols of heritage and pride.
Favora
Favora is a typeface for how things move forward, how society makes progress, and how hope becomes action. The two-weight display typeface channels the spirit of transformative moments. Named for a bold vision of the future, it strikes a powerful balance between commercial authority and utopian aspirations.
The type’s thicker weight is inspired by commercial and protest signage, large scale imprint posters, public announcement style. It’s thinner counterpart brings up sophisticated building signage, architectural engravings / metal, fancy invitations, advertising—committing to possible utopias.
In both cases the type is imbued with hope and optimism, they’re a little dusty and feel a bit bright eyed in possibility. There’s promise of progress in work and society. There’s trust in a better outcome.
The typeface was created by branding studio and foundry In-House Int’l, which has focused on working with climate tech and decarbonization companies over the past year. That work has influenced the type’s visual samples, which dare to dream of a world in which climate action is widespread, and technologies that decarbonize are the norm in every home and public space.
“As the creative studio behind ‘Favora,’ we wanted to bring this typeface for hope into the context of climate. We built joyful, colorful samples around ads for homewares like heat pumps and induction stovetops, as well as campaigns encouraging climate-rational behavior,” says In-House managing director Michu Benaim Steiner.
As climate crystallizes as the universal crisis of our time, Favora delivers a typeface to express a new hope for progress.
Favora was designed by Alexander Wright with Michu Benaim Steiner at In-House Int’l foundry, and developed by Rodrigo Fuenzalida at FragType. In-House International is a creative agency delivering branding breakthroughs for game changers. The In-House foundry offers bold, fearless, and expressive, display typefaces that tell a story.

Kufic Expression
This work reimagines the profound wisdom of Rumi’s quote, “You were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life?” in a modern Kufic scribble style. The abstract, layered design mirrors the tension between untapped potential and self-imposed limitations. The bold, angular Kufic script contrasts with the freeform scribbles, symbolizing the journey from restriction to liberation. A fusion of tradition and modernity, this piece inspires self-discovery and growth.
Contained Infinity
Contained Infinity is an immersive interactivrartwork that explores the philosophical themes behind Khayamiya, the art of tentmaking. Khayamiya art represents a visual embodiment of the collective identity and shared cultural heritage of the Egyptian community. The fundamental idea is to arrange several geometric, curvilinear, and arabesque shapes symmetrically to depict how everything harmoniously revolves around one center.
Eid Saed
In 2020, a simple Eid poster designed during the COVID-19 lockdown evolved into a standout creation. After attending a silkscreen workshop with Qaaf, the “Eid Saed” design caught attention, sparking a collaboration with @jamela_el to transform it into a functional tote. The original “one pound” concept was rebranded as “33 Pound” under @thrtythree_, becoming part of the “ROLL THE DICE” collection. Featuring indoor shoots by @ahmedalarabyphoto and outdoor work by @adrygraphy and @saddam.mky, the
Hypnotized XXX
The main inspiring source for me is not only the visual but the overall aggression that stimulates without reason, and from which you cannot hide. I have overcome my initial revolutionary ardour – which was quite uplifting as it addressed everybody – or at any rate found my place between the current situation and utopia.

The book includes six chapters, including “Humans vs. Gods”, which the poster is about, a chapter that delves into real-life crises and human limitations.
Identity Unidentified: Envied
This poster emphasizes the undervaluation of designers, challenging the misconception that their work is effortless or insignificant. It suggests that this lack of appreciation may stem from envy or a misunderstanding of their talent, possibly driven by jealousy rather than genuine critique.
Art of Khayameya Publication: “Beauty in What is Hidden”
Khayamiya, an ancient Cairo-born craft that once adorned tents and pavilions, now faces the brink of extinction. Yet, its dedicated craftsmen persevere, weaving intricate beauty and hope for its revival. “Beauty in What is Hidden” delves into this artistry, featuring French folds with poetic verses co-written with artisans and handmade covers crafted with the tent’s fabric, dak. It invites viewers to see through the craft, unveiling channeled years of practice, experience, and dedication.
A Flight of Longing

Titled “Flight of Longing”, this piece dives into the depths of longing and tradition echoing through generations. Sweetness in this City مذاقٌ حلوٌ في المدينةِ
Last winter in Berlin felt heavy, with tensions rising after the ban on pro-Palestinian protests and a growing sense of division. In this atmosphere, I began noticing everyday objects with a sense of nostalgia, as if they carried new meaning. This inspired my zine, themed “Home,” a collection of objects that tell personal stories. Like a mini museum of memories, it explores how thoughtful curation makes the mundane significant, inviting others to reflect on their own ties to “Home.”
