As lover of vintage typography, complex and intricate art has always appealed to Anton. But in the era of shortened attention spans, there is less and less interest in creating time consuming graphics. This thinking gave him the idea of exploring intricate typography in a new way.

In a bid to preserve his love to vintage typography, in the last year’s #36daysoftype10 project Anton was aiming to explore a symbiosis of old and new.

Othello

I created the poster as part of my creative learning process, it was originally intended to be a theater poster, so I created experimental letters using stencils, shapes of a pocket folding knife my grandfather gave me as a child, cut pieces of wet wipe packaging, yes, even that. I wanted to portray Othello’s jealous, passionate and fiery nature

The Universe

This poster is the outcome of a design exercise where I’ve been investigating type as a visual element. It’s part of a broader series that delves into the theme of nature.Combination of experimental typography and typeart create a whole image where all elements are constructed with type. In the poster ‘The Universe,’ I recreated the flower using type art. In this poster, I use a single quote for all elements, serving as both the title and the type art.

In the poster ‘Flowers,’ I used transformed graphic elements to create the letters. In this case, the individual elements combine to form the typography.

How is the weather inside you?

In the poster “How is the weather inside you?”, I recreated typical weather forecast graphic elements using typography, where each letter symbolizes a different weather condition.

Byblis

The typeface Byblis shows the moment of transformation of the eponymous figure from greek mythology. Ovid’s work “Metamorphoses” served as a basis. Byblis is in love with her twin brother Caunus, but he rejects her. She then goes mad and pursues him for a long time until she collapses exhausted and wets the grass with her tears. The nymphs try unsuccessfully to help her and finally create an inexhaustible spring and Byblis spills over in her own tears.

_I_I_

_I_I_ is a clock concept developed as part of a typography course under the supervision of Christian Hoffelner at the University of Arts in Linz. _I_I_ features a clock face where each digit of the font corresponds to the degree of the clock hand.

Artificial Type Archive

The “Artificial Type Archive” showcases the synergy between human creativity and AI, fostering a dynamic dialogue between the two. It serves as a platform for designers seeking inspiration and understanding AI’s creative potential. By leveraging AI to generate letters through three distinct models and prompts, it unveils uncharted typographic possibilities. This project highlights technology’s role in inspiring creativity and chronicles the advancements in AI’s typographic capabilities.

Untitled (Experimental typography [»The Brussels lace-balloon-Sausage M«])

In his works, Wolfgang Herbold deals with scientific and technical image strategies.
The unexpected, surprising and unexpected is provoked from the most diverse digital possibilities.
One element of his working method is the causation and experimental triggering of accidents, incompatibilities and malfunctions,
be it in the exchange between digital programmes, be it in the constant change between digital work
and other techniques such as drawing/painting, as well as within a technique.

phfft

The second movie poster is for Phfft, a creative exploration that continues the series initiated with A Complete History of My Sexual Failures. This project was part of the Graphic Design MA program at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Poland. The poster design captures the unique tone and style of the film, showcasing a blend of innovative graphic elements and thoughtful visual storytelling.

Coded Space Mono

All my work was coded with p5js as part of the creation of a website showcasing the Space Mono font. My graphics and animations are marked by errors that may appear in digital formats and on screens, to make a reference to the Space Mono font, created mainly for screens and very popular among programmers.

Tuaf

Tuaf is an experimental Latin & Arabic type family designed for small sizes, started as an EsadType graduation project.

The process began with sketches on 2 mm high lines, adhering to strict rules. This approach prompted an exploration of the interplay between the black and white shapes, shaping the writing rhythm over the individual letter details.

Rather than a linear increase of weights in the family, the styles changed shape or structure to improve their performance at small sizes.

Europeana

Attached are the book’s spreads with illustrations and text. The main design idea is radio and television noise and vibration. Constant repetitions, lack of chronological order, chaotic facts, and historical statistics data are like noise from which you can catch individual slogans popping up in the book’s margins. Hence the idea to make a book in the style of radio waves with different frequencies that overlap each other and create a noise from which you can catch individual quotes and phrases.

ASCII Playground

The ASCII Playground is an attempt of a browser-based live-code environment with text-only output.
It is born from the joy and pleasure ASCII, ANSI and in general text-based art can give and it is an homage to all the artists, poets and designers which used and use text as their medium.
From the design perspective it is also an exercise in reduction: there is almost no interface, just a preview window and a code editor; margins and line numbers are removed as well.
