Principles of Serendipity—Conference on Expanded Design

Principles of Serendipity

Conference on Expanded Design

Author: Linus Haug

The Principles of Serendipity conference, taking place on November 8th and 9th, 2024, will bring together a diverse range of perspectives from designers, artists, and theorists who are deeply engaged in (expanded) graphic design and creative research, with the aim of advancing and critically examining the field of communication design. The conference speakers represent a broad spectrum of international design discourse, using design as a tool for knowledge production and engagement with visual culture. Speakers include: Anke Haarmann, Anne Büttner, James Langdon, Nina Sieverding, Tereza Ruller, Laucke Siebein, Maureen Mooren and Na Kim.

The hosts interpret the title Principles of Serendipity as both a core research principle and a theme for the conference: not all discoveries are planned or predictable; often, it is the open and exploratory approach to a research subject that leads to valuable insights and creative outcomes. The conference is free! Please register by November 4th at [email protected]
