Helvetica Illustrated – limitierte Riso-Edition
Für die Strecke “Fontames Illustrated” des Slanted Magazins #23 wurden zwölf Illustrationen von namhaften Illustratorinnen und Illustratoren aus der Schweiz angefertigt. Aufgrund des Themas der Ausgabe wurden erstmals allen Beteiligten ein einzelner Schriftenname vorgegeben – die Helvetica. Den Schriftennamen haben die von Raban Ruddigkeit eingeladenen Illustratoren nach ihren Vorstellungen in einer Illustration visualisiert.
Die Helvetica Illustrationen wurden nun als limitierte Edition auf einem Risographen im Format DIN A3 produziert und sind nun exklusiv im Slanted Shop erhältlich. Die auf jeweils 10 Stück begrenzten Drucke sind nummeriert und vom jeweiligen Illustrator persönlich signiert.

Andrea Forgacs is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator living and working in Zurich. After her training in classical art she studied graphic design in Hildesheim and Budapest, achieving her MA in London with distinction. Andrea Forgacs has worked both as freelancer and in renowned agencies.

Born in 1977, Céline Meyrat works and lives in Biel-Bienne, Switzerland. She visited the school of visual art Biel Bienne and studied at AVU, Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and Vladimir Skrepl studio before she graduated at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Since 2007 she is working as a freelance illustrator.

Christian Grossert was born in 1970 in Zurich. From 1994 to 1998 he studied Art Education at the College of Art and Design Zurich and then studied Theory of Art and Design from 2001 to 2003. He lives and works in Zurich.

Daniel Ruckstuhl studied Fashion Design and Industrial Design at the Zurich University of the Arts and worked as an art driector for various agencies before he founded his own studio bartók.

Freelance illustrator Gregory Gilbert-Lodge lives and works in Zurich. During his studies he was member of Silex, a group of illustrators that formed at Biel Art School. While he has many commercial clients, over the past 20 years he has contributed to countless publications. Reproduction plays a major role in his award-winning artwork, be it a mass-circulation magazines or his popular series of iconic screen-prints. Gregory’s commercial clients include: VW, Mercedes-Benz, Nike, Champion, Nestlé, Migros, Swiss International Air Lines, Rugby Football Union, Museum Neu, Tate Modern, V&A Museum.

Julia Marti, born 1984, works as artist, illustrator and graphic designer in Zurich and is a co-publisher of the comic magazine “Strapazin.” Her graphical work is characterized by her strong interest for typography, while the focus of her artistic work is the drawing: as series or separately, in linear or loose narration.

Born in Geneva in 1990, Julien Gapany was always passionate by art in its various forms. In 2011 he entered the CFPAA in Geneva where he is currently a 3rd year graphic design student. He tries to focus his personal work on abstract and figurative geometrical compositions, the simplification of a subject and the relation Typography/image. His main goal is to experiment and to learn a new way of thinking and working.

Michael Kiener has completed the graphic specialist class in Biel. After his education he went on an adventure trip from New York to Buenos Aires and sketched the country and people. After an illustration internship at Blackyard GmbH, he now works part-time as a graphic intern at the Tatort GmbH.

Since 2004 Swiss graphic designer Pascal Staub works under the name Grafilu. Grafilu offers illustrative design in a variety of visual languages, all of which share one common ingredient: the involvement of drawing.

Paula Troxler *1981 lives and works in Zurich, born in Willisau, Studies in Lucerne, since 2006 working as a freelance illustrator in her own studio for newspapers & magazines, Poster for theatre & cultural events, Book publications, CI Jazz Festival Willisau, Cooperation with studios & exhibitions.
Rosanna Schaub geboren in Süd Afrika, lebt und arbeitet in Zürich. Rosanna Schaubs künstlerischer Werdegang und Ausrichtung ist vielfältig und durch mehrere Identitäten in ihrem Schaffen geprägt. Als gelernte Illustratorin und Modezeichnerin fasste sie den künstlerischen Entschluss, absichtlich zu „entlernen“, was sie von den damaligen anatomischen Studien verinnerlicht hat. Es kommt nicht von ungefähr, dass Rosanna Schaubs Bildwelten ursprünglich aus dem unendlichen Bilderstrom der Kultur-, Lifestyle- und Modehochglanzmagazine entspringen. Armeen von Fotomodellen – Menschenmodellen – paradieren durch sie. Sie tragen das Ideal der Makellosigkeit und spätkapitalistische Attitüden der Konsumgesellschaft zu Markte. Rosanna Schaub konfrontiert die Betrachterin und den Betrachter mit Anblicken von Zerrissenheit, wenn sie Gesichter und Formen in fast kubistischer Manier fragmentiert. Sie hält ihm den Spiegel vor, zur Selbstbefragung.

Silvan Zurbriggen, born 1986 in San Diego, studied Visual Communication at the University of Arts in Bern (HKB). After an internship in Reykjavik and in Berne he finished the Master in Illustration in Lucerne. He now works as a freelance Illustrator and Graphic Designer.
